Spring Song - Foothills, Colorado
A single Yellow Salsify emerges triumphant above a chorus of showy Penstemons. Each spring, the Rocky Mountain foothills sing with color as wild flowers riot in the sun’s warm glow. Many of the flowering plants are believed to have medicinal properties. The milky sap of Salsify was once used by Native Americans to aid with indigestion. This flower made its home in Boulder Mountain Parks, a foothills preserve receiving over five million visitors each year.
