Watercress
Parunuweap Canyon
Utah

Watercress compliments the diagonal sandstone strata on the banks of the Parunuweap River. A seeping spring provides year around moisture for this riparian plant. Within the Parunuweap drainage lies a 30,800 acre Wilderness Study Area that awaits final protection from Congress. The canyon was named by John Wesley Powell after the Paiute Indian word meaning "roaring water canyon."
